I have created some Bento Style Tapas Nibbles. Adults and children’s version.
There are so much variety you can use different cheeses, meats, olives, biscuits, chips, vegetables. I don’t go out to the shops to buy these on purpose, I use what I have already in the cupboards and fridge.
I make these when its movie night, or if we have friends pop over for an afternoon visit, even nights where I don’t want to cook. Something that you can just throw together and put out on the table and let them help themselves.
Adults Bento Style Tapas Nibbles:
Semi Dried Tomato Dip, Water Crackers, BBQ Chicken, Salami, Costello Cheese, Chill and Garlic Olives, Grape Tomatoes and Feta drizzled with Balsamic Vinegar.
Childrens Bento Style Tapas Nibbles:
Hummus Dip, Bread Sticks, Cheese Sticks, Bellamy’s Organic Super Grains Rice Crackers, Frankfurters (with food picks and BBQ Sauce Dip in a medicine cup), Celery, Carrots, Grape Tomatoes, Tiny Teddies and Marshmallows.
Varieties you can use:
Cheese: Fried Haloumi, Cheddar, Mozzarella, Feta, Brie, Jarlsberg.
Meat: Salami, Chicken, Ham, Sausage, Chorizo, Frankfurters (my mum calls them Cherrios).
Biscuits: Water Crackers, Rice Crackers, Bread Sticks, Salada, Chips, Tiny Teddies, Marie Biscuits, Nice Biscuits, Chocolate Biscuits.
Vegetables: Carrots, Celery, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Cucumber, Bell Peppers, Avocado, sun-dried vegetables.
Fruits: Watermelon, Rockmelon, Strawberries, Apples, Banana’s (slice and use food picks with these fruits)
Other Nibbles: Dried noodles, peanuts, cashews, almonds, raisins, marshmallows, dried fruits, chips, popcorn.
You can put these in separate plastic containers (separated by mini containers or silicone cups), 6 holder muffin tins (for older children this will stop arguments), plates or tapas plates.
Top tip: Use old medicine cups for sauces to dip.
