This morning I put up a picture of two new plates I have in stock, a Dump Truck and a Princess Plate.

One of them was sold out within minutes. I was blown away.. I still am in shock 10 hours later! More stock has been ordered for the shop and will arrive early next week.

In the meantime I made a lunch with one of the plates for my little man’s lunch.

On the Dump Truck menu:
Macaroni Cheese with Sausage
Pirate Ship Cheese (using a Pirate Ship Cutter)
½ sliced Apple
Pretzel Sticks
Spicy Broad Beans (in a Blocks Food Cup)
Mini Marshmellows

Served on a Dump Truck Divider Plate.

Yes there is a Dump Truck under all that food!

That is definitely a question I get alot – what do I do with leftover crusts?

You can see Part two .

Yesterday we made cute little frog sandwiches for lunch.

On the menu:
Peanut Butter and Sprinkles Frog Sandwich (using the CuteZCute Cutter)
Yoghurt
Carrots and Celery with Mayo Dip (using a Food Bucket)

Frog Bento - Leftover Crusts

What did I do with the leftover crusts? Surely I did not waste them!

No we don’t!

There are various ways to use leftover crusts. It really does depend on how much leftover crusts you have, which determines what you can do with them.

Yesterday we decided to have Eggy Bears – as the shape of the crusts looked like a little bear – what my mum calls Eggs in Baskets)

Eggy Bears (Eggs in baskets)
Instructions:

In a fry pan – place about a knob of butter and melt.
Place bread in fry pan until lightly golden.
Flip the bread over and crack egg into the hole.
Cook until ready (or flip if you don’t like it sunny side up!)

Eat immediately!

These were so successful with my little ones, that they have requested it for lunch again today!

I know lots of people are making Anzac Biscuits this week around Australia, New Zealand and the world!

So I thought I would use the Kiwi version of Anzac Biscuits and put my little twist into it (considering I am a Kiwi, Australian Citizen AND a British Citizen).

Edmonds Cookery Book is a staple cookbook in every Kiwi household and one I love going back to time and time again for good homey meals. I use the basis of the recipe in this book adding my own ingredients and taking out some (in this case no coconut but added mini choc chips).

Anzac Biscuits – Kiwi Recipe with a Little Bento twist

Ingredients:
½ Cup Plain Flour
¼ Caster Sugar (brown sugar also works!)
¾ Cup Rolled Oats
50g Butter
1 tablespoon Golden Syrup
½ teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons boiling water
½ cup mini choc chip bits (my own little twist)

Mix together flour, sugar and rolled oats. Melt butter and golden syrup. Dissolve baking soda in the boiling water and add to butter and golden syrup. Stir butter miexture into the dry ingredients. Place spoonfuls of mixture onto baking trays (with baking paper). Bake at 170 for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Makes about 12.

Crispy around the edge, chewy in the middle.

Trying to think of something other than peanut butter sandwiches for the 284th day in a row, is becoming a nice challenge for me – Mini Wraps is the winner this week!

With leftover silverside being a favourite in this household for Autumn (and Winter) as it is one of the only red meats my daughter will eat a lot of. I decided to try mini wraps for lunch. Small bite size morsels of yumminess attached with a cute food pick, packed into a lunchbox – perfect for an cool Autumn day!

On the menu:
and Cheese Mini Wraps with mayonnaise (with wild animal food picks)

Mini Rice Cakes
Pinkies Fruit Bar
Peanuts, Yoghurt covered Raisins and an Apricot Ball (in Blocks Food Cups)

Do you make the same sandwich day in day out?
