Trying to think of something other than peanut butter sandwiches for the 284th day in a row, is becoming a nice challenge for me – Mini Wraps is the winner this week!

With leftover silverside being a favourite in this household for Autumn (and Winter) as it is one of the only red meats my daughter will eat a lot of. I decided to try mini wraps for lunch. Small bite size morsels of yumminess attached with a cute food pick, packed into a lunchbox – perfect for an cool Autumn day!

On the menu:
and Cheese Mini Wraps with mayonnaise (with wild animal food picks)

Mini Rice Cakes
Pinkies Fruit Bar
Peanuts, Yoghurt covered Raisins and an Apricot Ball (in Blocks Food Cups)

Do you make the same sandwich day in day out?

Linking up today’s post with Essentially Jess for IBOT :)

my son eats the same every day – vegemite and cheese sandwiches, a muesli bar and grapes. he is like his father i think – finds something, likes it, sticks to it forever! -aroha (#teamIBOT)

Yeah my husband is much like that.. won’t experiment with different flavours.. which is why I think my daughter has trouble trying new foods.

  2.

My daughter has the same sandwich every day. Lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayo. My son on the other hand needs variety. And he doesn’t like sandwiches which makes it hard. So these little gems of yours will come in handy!

Sandwiches aren’t such a hit here. But Hayden does love a wrap with BBQ chicken, cheese, mayo and spinach. Won’t et BBQ chicken any other way!

It used to be peanut butter central here too for ages, but thankfully we have moved past it. I’ve never tried wraps for the kids, cause I always think they are too fiddly, but I’ve seen them in lots of lunchboxes at school

I’m am slowly weaning lil missy off peanut butter as I am sure her school next year is nut free.. Wraps are easy just place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix then handful onto the side of a wrap – fold up the bottom and roll. I fix with string because it holds it all together and looks pretty :)

my kids love wraps. These look great. I think i need to get someof those tooth picks but how do you make sure they come home again?

    •

We love wraps – I pop a little hair lacky plastic box in the side of the lunchbox for their food picks. always come home!

My kids LOVE ham, cheese and avocado, so I find most days when I am home with them, that is what they have! At least I know they will eat ALL their lunch. :)

  7.

YEP, my girl is super fussy, it’s just plain sandwiches EVERY DAY! BOO

I think I’m more bored of boring lunch boxes thank the kids are!! Love the wrap ideas, I have just made some fresh hummus which will be perfect for a wrap. I really need to order some of those little ‘picks’ you have – I just hope the kids don’t loose them at school!

My 4yo is super fussy but he is eating cheese and ham toasties since I bought one of those toasters that squishes bread together. I might have to give wraps another go. I have no idea what he will eat when he goes to big school next year. At daycare they give him a hot lunch everyday and make him eat it. When he’s on his own in the playground next year… who knows what he will eat?

    •

Yes my daughter has hot lunches at daycare too – I am sure she only eats the rice and noodles – no meat or vegetables. Fruit time I think she may eat the apple slices but doubtful of anything else!

This is why I am trying new things with her this year before she attends school next year – weaning her off peanut butter sandwiches – due to ‘nut free zones’ at school.

Like this idea, as she loves ‘picking’ ‘chopping’ and ‘changing’ alas she’s not a fan of cold meats (to date, she’s only nearly 2) so we shall see. Until then – long live grapes, ‘mitey’ bikkies – vegemite on rice crackers, and tuna on toast!

I love sandwiches and I like to try different variety.

Yes, I have about 4 different ones in my repertoire. Left over burritos, avocado and vegemite, vegemite and cheese, ham / cranberry and cheese. Even the fruit for morning tea is a rotation of the same things!
I am always on the look out for something new, so this is where I go :)

LOVE the mini wraps idea! Four kids with four different lunch specifications … but I think this would cover ALL their preferences. Will be coming back for more ideas :)

You packed a gorgeous lunch! Love the silverside wrap ideas. My girls have Avocado and lemon juice sandwiches nearly every day of the year – or Vegemite when we don’t have. Interestingly, in Australia, peanut butter and peanuts are banned at most schools due to nut allergies so we can’t use the peanut butter option!
