I have currently been bitten by the Martha Stewart bug.. after going to a craft store to pick out my wedding invitation paper, and chatting to the sales assistant about Martha Stewart and her crafts (and the love of spending the credit card at Macy’s in New York on all her products..) she reminded me of the 6 things to do everyday.
Something so simple that even I .. self proclaimed unorganised housefiance, can do.
Now I KNOW I can do this. So this is now my regular routine. I have even printed it out and put it on our kitchen cupboard, so when Drew gets home, he can ask me if I have done the 6 things today and if not why not! I want to be more active, and since I have been a rubbish housefiance for the last 3 years.
Drew never asked if I was a housewife type person.. he is definitely better at this job than I am..! but I am learning and slowly getting better.. Motivation is the key.. Keeping Drew happy is definitely another key.. and making myself happy and proud of what I do each day is the most important thing when it comes to my housework.
Update: As Vanessa has mentioned in her comment: Yes I think the lounge would be left until the end of the day – due to toys and crawling babies!! But as long as I wake up to a tidy house, I think I will be happy!
My list of Things to do before and after a morning shower.
I say I would do this….but my children would not. Which means I would never be able to leave the room. Ever. It would be a very dark and vicious cycle. I wish I could be more Martha Stewart-ish. Yay for wedding invites though!
I am not Martha but I think I am pretty good at that list…it went a bit haywire last year with a new bub but I have picked up my game and got back on top of things now…they are so small but mean soooo much!!x
I love this!! makes it soo much easier to keep things clean!!
What a fantastic idea!! I am going to print one similar and put it on my kitchen wall (nothing stays on the fridge:(). I am all for organising this year!
The big secret to a tidy house, is only having what you really need…if you haven't used it for six months then the chances are that it was not important to start with!
We have gotten rid of so much “Stuff” and downsided in a big way – it sure makes one realise what we do need for us to be really happy, and what we only collect for the dust to sit on!
I like the tip about cleaning up as you cook – I do that and it sure helps after the meal is eaten…less washing up
Cheers
Lisa
I love all 6 things! I love having a clean, tidy and organized house!
Such easy tips, but so useful!
I can't stand not making the bed. It is one of the things I have to do.
Great post. I do these things, but my kids are teens, which makes it easier. Oh… and moving to a new house, LOL
Great idea – I love trying to keep things simple – good luck with it all!
I'm with Vanessa. I'd be locked in the room with my mess-moulting children. Great to aim for though…
LOVE this! Might print it out myself! Im a follower on twitter and now a new reader and loving your blog! xx
I try, I really do but it doesn't always work. Three little boys often get in the way…
I do most of that stuff. I hate waking up to disorder, it just upsets my whole day. But I only do a tidy once a day, at the end of the day. I cannot bear doing things twice.
Visiting via the Rewind.
Six things. Sounds easy but I doubt I even get this done. I note there is no mention of washing… Washing is my daily staple! Thanks for Rewinding x
