Custard has been requested alot this week – a special treat that gets picked when my husband does the shopping!

I usually make my own custard and then make a pavlova with the leftover egg whites! And usually end up eating the pavlova all to myself! It was the same with the Peppa Pig cake last week – after the party, I think I ate half a snout and part of the skirt, over the course of the week.

On the menu:
Ham and Cheese Roll
Cheese (using the Sushi Mini Cutters)
Sweetcorn
BBQ Chicken
Banana, Strawberries and frozen Blueberries
Custard (with Food Bling)

Do you make your own custard?

Whats your recipe?

One of the first things a Japanese girl learns when making bento lunches is how to do Bunny Ears Apples. This to me is a great way to encourage that extra piece of fruit in the lunchbox and can be done (with care) with pears, oranges and other fruits!

Cut your apple into quarters and remove core. Pick a point in the middle of the skin side and score a line from the middle to the edge on about 1.5cm long – repeat for the other side. Then slice under the skin and pull away the triangle and lift up the ears slightly. Pop into lemony (or orangy) water to stop it from browning.

On the menu:
Bunny Peanut Butter Sandwiches (using Foodoodlers to make a face – tried to make Miffy but it didn’t quite work!)
Bunny Ears Apples
Hommus and Water Crackers (using a bunny silicone food cup)
Sausages
Lamington Finger
Custard with “Bunny Poop” Jellies (with Rainbow Bling)

All served in the EZ Bento Lunchbox.

My first go at Bunny Ears Apples and I think I did alright!

My daughter’s words were WOW Mum! So I think they will be featured alot in our lunches!

Will you give Bunny Ears Apples ago?

With lunches starting to get back on track with my daughter, my son seems to have decided to be a minimalistic eater this week. Barely touching his breakfast, lunch or dinner. However he has crazy energy that he will go from 7am – 9pm with only a 15 minute nap in the afternoon to rejuvenate!

He has started to refuse his morning nap. After struggling with my daughter and her nap time from the time she was 18 months til 24 months I decided this time to just let it go, and see what happens. Most days he’s happy to go without a nap, and sometimes I find him asleep on the couch during quiet time.

What simple lunches do you make when your children are ‘off’ their food.

My daughter wasn’t well last week and so has been off her food for what seems like an eternity!! But we are now back on track and she requested the Fire Engine Plate for lunch.

On the menu:
Peanut Butter Sandwiches (Using the CuteZCute Cutter)

Cheese
Sweetcorn (in the Animal Food Cup)
Strawberries
Trail Mix: Cheerios, Raisins, Peanuts and two Tiny Teddies

Fire Engine Plate

As you can see we used the CuteZCute cutter for the sandwiches and the cheese – its a fantastic 4 in one cutter! Although Mr Piggy’s nose wasn’t straightened up for the photo – it is such a versatile cutter. One Cutter, 4 faces – Pig, Panda, Frog and Cat. One side of the animals stamps out the face, the other side imprints! So these are great not only for sandwiches but cheese, ham and cookies!

Do your children have a special plate like the Fire Engine plate they love to eat lunch on?
